Emily Bubonivich
BME Ph.D. Student
Emily is a PhD student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and joined the Dolatshahi lab in 2025. She grew up in Natick, Massachusetts and graduated from the College of the Holy Cross with majors in Biology and Computer Science. At Holy Cross, she was also a member of the Varsity Women's Soccer team.
In the Systems Immunology Lab at UVA, her research focuses on fetal-maternal health, with a particular interest in understanding how social determinants of health and clinical factors influence immune response and architecture at the maternal-fetal interface during pregnancy.
Outside of the lab, Emily enjoys exercising and staying active, watching sports, cooking/baking, and hanging out with friends!
