Remziye E Wessel
BME Ph.D. Student, Graduated in Summer 2025
Remziye graduated with her PhD from UVA BME in 2025. In the Dolatshahi Lab, she investigated placental antibody transfer dynamics using a blend of computational and experimental approaches toward the design of rational prenatal vaccine strategies. She is currently a postdoc in Doug Lauffenburger's lab at MIT where she is investigating how maternal and environmental exposures shape early life immune development and childhood vaccine efficacy. Remziye is passionate about both research and mentorship and looks forward to leading her own Systems Immunology lab one day! Outside of the lab, she enjoys exploring running trails with her dog Rosie, road cycling, crafting, and serving up new dishes at home for dinner.
